A police officer's job is 365 days a year. We work 24 hours a day to protect and serve you. But, the Holidays provide us with the opportunity to reach out to those less fortunate. The members of the Police Department have decided to contribute to the Pantry of Hope-Santa's Claus-it Event. There is currently a barrel in the city building lobby for food and a tree with tags for gifts. We encourage you to join the effort. Check out our Facebook page for details or call Stella at 859-441-7529. The project ends December 19th to allow for delivery. This event is just one way to help those in our community have an easier time at Christmas.
Reaching out, even in a small way, can make a big difference to someone during the Holidays. Check on a neighbor who might be alone and lonely. Volunteer at a soup kitchen or pantry. Buy an extra canned good at the grocery this week and bring it to the city building. These are just a few ways you can help.
There are also ways you can deter crime. Don't forget to leave lights on or a radio when you are away and call the police department (859-441-8956) if you would like us to check your house periodically when traveling. Keep gifts and valuables in your car out of sight and always lock your car whether it is on the street or in your driveway. Always close your garage door to limit access to your home. Drink responsibly at those holiday parties and designate a driver. Be aware of your surroundings when shopping and keep your purse and wallet close at hand.
Don't let the stress of the season consume you and have a very Merry Christmas!
