WARNING: Phone Scam

Some of the citizens of the city have reported phone calls from someone claiming to be a representative of the Internal Revenue Service.  The caller states that the resident has committed fraud with the IRS and will be arrested by the Sheriff’s Department.  This is a scam.  Hang up and disregard the caller.  DO NOT try to call the number back.

This should be reported to the Inspector General at the IRS at 1-800-366-4484 or via the internet at www.TIGTA.gov

One of the numbers generated from the caller is 1-888-508-0432.  If that number comes up on your caller ID, do not answer.
